Tips on Cleaning Stair Rods

Tips on Cleaning Stair Rods

When cleaning your stair rods, always take sensible precautions to protect your carpet or floor covering from damage and moisture.

Lacquered metal stair rods

Many of our stair rods are supplied protected with a clear lacquer, which prevents them from tarnishing. To keep clean, it is best to simply wipe them with a damp cloth from time to time. Do not use metal cleaning products, as these will damage the lacquer, causing tarnishing of the rods and damage, which could mark your carpet.

For further advice please see the More Information section provided for each design of stair rod.

Wooden stair rods

The Tudor stair rods are stained and lacquered and simply require a wipe clean with a damp cloth. The finial ends and the brackets are made of metal and are lacquered – see Lacquered metal stair rods above for cleaning and maintenance tips.

Akeman Professional stair rods

These Akeman Professional stair rods do require cleaning from time to time, using a standard brass or metal cleaner. Using a ruler or protective strip either side is a practical tip worth the effort.
