The range of products listed here shows laminate to carpet thresholds, which are also ideal for joining carpet to ceramic tiles or wood flooring. If you are planning to join a carpet to a carpet, then select the Filter on this page which says Carpet to Carpet or Multi Purpose.
All the door thresholds, also known as threshold strips, floor trims and door bars, we offer are high quality. They are designed not to buckle or dent when you run the vacuum over them and will withstand everyday life, remaining smart and elegant for years to come.
We also sell the Premier Single 9 door bars, which is designed to join a carpet to vinyl flooring and has a curved profile.
If you are looking for extra wide or extra narrow thresholds, then please use the Width filter on the left hand side of this page.
What is a Z bar?
The Z bar is a popular type of door bar used to join a carpet to a hard floorcovering, such as ceramic tiles, wood, laminate and the like. It is the ideal carpet to laminate thresholds when the two floors are level with each other. It is a term commonly used by carpet fitters and reflects the profile of the door threshold, which looks like a “Z” shape. The Z bar features a base strip on one side, lined with sharp needles which pull the carpet under tension. We sell the Premier range of quality-made Z bars, the number refers to the approximate thickness of the carpet. So, the Premier Z9 is suitable for a carpet with a pile about 9mm thick (excluding underlay). Other sizes in the range: Premier Slim Z and the Premier Z13. All are offered in a choice of ten attractive metal finishes.
What is a cover plate?
A cover plate sits over the top of the join between two floorcoverings – there is nothing underneath the flooring. It covers the raw edges of the flooring and any gap. This means that the floorcoverings must be attached to the base floor using a different method, such as adhesive for ceramic tiles or gripper for a carpet. The Premier Posh and the Premier Cover are both popular designs of coverplate which join all types of flooring and also cater for small differences in height between the two floors, where necessary.
My bathroom tiled floor is higher than the landing carpet – how do I join them to avoid a step?
Providing the level difference is 8mm or less, you can fit either The Premier Cover or Premier Posh plates, regardless of the type of flooring. They are specially designed so that they can be securely fitted at a slight angle. If you prefer to fit a standard Z bar, then use our Easyshims under the carpet and underlay to raise the carpet level with the tiled floor. The Easyshims are offered in four thicknesses from 6mm to 15mm and are a cost-effective solution to a common problem. Likewise, used in conjunction with Easyshims, the Compression Ramp will raise the level of the carpet up to 30mm and provide a neat, smart door join.
I need to buy a single naplock – what should I buy?
It is a door threshold for joining carpet to another floorcovering which is level with the carpet but not thick, such as vinyl or floorboards. On one side there is a base plate which fits under the carpet and grips the cut edge and holds it under tension, whilst the visible bar covers the join and raw edges of the flooring and is finished with a neat, curved edge. We sell the Premier Single, which is made from solid brass and offered in ten finishes; there are three alternative options dependent on the thickness of the pile of your carpet – 4mm, 9mm or 13mm.
