Stair nosings are both a safety and style feature on a staircase fitted with luxury vinyl tiles (LVT). They protect the edge of a step, where the most wear is experienced from foot traffic and cover up any seams.
We offer the Premier LVT Nosing, which is also suitable for carpet tiles, and has a rounded profile and comes in various sizes to accommodate various thicknesses of stair covering.
The Premier Trim Little Nose is ideal for those who like a bit of DIY as it is self adhesive and simple to DIY fit.
Nosings are also a useful safety feature as they highlight the edge of a step , especially when you select a finish or metal which contrasts with your carpet tiles or LVT.
If you have just a small step then you can also consider the 5 Lip floor trims which are likewise self-adhesive and create a neat and smart edge to a low rise step.

What is a stair nosing?
It is an edging to a step, to protect the floorcovering fitted to the stairs from prematurely wearing out. The front edge of a step takes a battering from regular foot traffic – more so than the rest of the tread. Stair nosings are therefore fitted separately from the rest of the flooring used on the stairs. They are designed to cover up the front lip of a step. In so doing, they avoid the need to prematurely replace the entire stair floorcovering simply because the front step edges have worn and look unsightly.
What types of stair nosings are there?
The Ali Top Nose is ideal for making the crucial join between a carpeted staircase which joins onto a laminate floor. Neat and safe, it makes an attractive feature. The Bendybull caters for straight and curved steps and matches exactly the pattern and colour of vinyl and LVT flooring fitted to the stairs. The collection of 5 different Lip trims, available in ten finishes, are highly versatile and resolve all sorts of flooring issues where an exposed or ugly hard floor edge needs covering up.
What length do step nosings come in?
It depends on the product selected but most are available in a choice of three lengths: 900mm, 1800mm and 2700mm. They are designed to be cut-to-length at the point of fitting, using a sharp hack-saw or similar.
