Fitting Door Thresholds & Door Bars

Fitting Door Thresholds & Door Bars

General advice for fitting Door Thresholds and Bars

  1. Use a sharp hacksaw to cut your door threshold (otherwise known as a carpet threshold, carpet door bars or threshold bars) to fit the precise width of your doorway.

  2. Remove any adhesive strip off the back of the threshold, before firmly screwing into the floor. Make sure the screws are screwed down tightly and are flat. If the door threshold is not screwed firmly in place, it may move when standing on it, which will result in the screws lifting up any inlay strip.

  3. Ensure the central channel of the threshold bar is clean and free of dust before attaching the inlay, to ensure a firm adhesion and to avoid the strip lifting.

Joints and Posh Door Thresholds

  1. Joints and Posh are suitable for use with a combination of floor coverings e.g. tiles with vinyl, carpet with wood. The two floor coverings on either side of the door threshold can be the same thickness or different, i.e. the Posh will create a gentle slope from one height of floor covering to another.

  2. Ensure any carpet used is fitted over the gripper (as shown in diagram), and screwed down tightly.
