Cleaning Door Thresholds & Stair Rods

Many of our metal and wooden door thresholds, stair rods, skirting protectors and carpet studs are protected with a clear lacquer, which prevents them from tarnishing.

To clean them, simply wipe with a damp cloth from time to time. DO NOT use metal cleaning products, as these will damage the lacquer, causing tarnishing and damage and may mark your carpet. For directions please see the More Information section for each individual product.

There are a number of exceptions including our solid brass Z bars, Feline door threshold plates and Akeman professional stair rods, which are available in a number of different finishes; these require occasionally polishing using a standard brass cleaner. To protect your carpet, it may be advisable to put a ruler or protective strip either side when cleaning.
